Little Nut Cottage was designed to capture the essence of Cumbrian charm and craftsmanship. Situated amidst rolling hills and silver birch of the Lake District, it’s a place where the rhythm of village life hums quietly alongside the rustle of the fells. Stepping inside guests are met with the soft glow of firelight, thoughtful details and a feeling of warmth that instantly feels like home.

The cottage’s story is stems from the region’s history. Elterwater was once a thriving hub for quarrymen whose stone cottages dotted the valley and shaped the character of the landscape. These humble dwellings were crafted from locally hewn slate and built to withstand the wild weather of the region and provide shelter for the workers who quarried the rock that paved Britain’s cities.

Little Nut Cottage, once part of that heritage, has been lovingly restored to celebrate those same enduring materials - solid stone, warm timber, and craftsmanship that tells of generations past.

Today Little Nut Cottage welcomes guests to experience its history first-hand. Each corner is rich with character and warmth - a quality that seems to capture this pocket of Britain. Stay at Little Nut Cottage and return to simplicity and beauty and the history of the land lingers gently in the air.
